June 17th, 2011 Summer Blogging – Saskatoon
I have stayed in Saskatoon quite a few times for work, and once for a weekend course a few years ago. When I stay for work, we stay super close to the airport, at a fairly good hotel. Only problem is, there isn’t anything around the hotel, so we usually end up having dinner in the lounge there, and not really seeing much of the city. Having been there a few years back, I remembered that I was taken aback by how beautiful the city actually is. In keeping with my promise to remove myself from my comfort zones this summer, I decided last week that I would set off to rediscover the beauty that is Saskatoon.
I got bussing directions from the front desk, grabbed change and $20 and set off downtown. Downtown Saskatoon is where the river flows through, so I knew this would be a good place for a walk. I was able to get there without any difficulties, and started wandering around.
The following are the pictures I snapped on my journeys. I came across a little Greek Restaurant that I remembered from the course weekend, and popped in for a glass of wine and giant slice of Baklava. Not a bad ending to my little adventure. I hope you enjoy these pictures – I certainly enjoyed getting out and about!
- a war memorial
- an apartment building – I liked the prayer flags.
- along the river
- a fountain
- more along the river
- I found a miniature labyrinth
- wine and baklava
- more of the labyrinth
Until Next Adventure!!!
